"Free airport shuttle" means different things at different hotels. Some cover both directions, some only one, some only at certain hours. Knowing which applies before you book is what stops the cost appearing on arrival.

Why there is no hourly schedule
Several hotels in this area run a car every hour. That works when your flight lines up with a departure and works badly when it does not — you either reach the airport two hours early or pay for a taxi anyway.
Arranging cars per trip means departure time is calculated from your actual flight. The trade-off is that it has to be booked ahead. Anyone arriving without a booking should use the airport taxi stand.
What to tell the hotel when booking
1. Flight number and date. For arrivals, say which terminal you land at. For departures, say what time you need to be at the airport. 2. How many adults, children and large bags. Families with a pushchair or car seat should say so, as it affects the size of vehicle assigned. 3. A contact number that works while travelling.
